The Cyprus Security and Intelligence Institute (CySII) is an independent academic research center based in Nicosia, at one of the most consequential crossroads of our time — where the European Union meets the Eastern Mediterranean, where Europe touches the Middle East and North Africa, and where information, intelligence, and influence increasingly shape outcomes more decisively than territory.

Our mission is to produce rigorous, evidence-based research on security, intelligence, and statecraft, and to translate that research into knowledge that strengthens institutions, informs policy, and serves the citizens those institutions exist to protect.

We believe that security begins with understanding. That intelligence is a discipline as much as a craft. And that the most consequential decisions of our age deserve scholarship that is both fearless and fair.

CySII works across borders and across disciplines, with academics, practitioners, and partners who share a single conviction: that careful analysis, openly shared, is itself a form of diplomacy.
