On 18th June 2026, our Head of Operations, Dr Petros Petrikkos took part as a speaker on hybrid threats during the proceedings of the European Union INTCEN Hybrid Fusion Cell (HFC) Points of Contact & Informal Horizontal Working Party on Enhancing Resilience and Countering Hybrid Threats (HWP ERCHT) under the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026. The main discussion concerned the ways through which such threats are present across Cypriot society and institutions.
During his presentation, Dr. Petrikkos emphasised the need to effectively disclose hybrid threat issues to the wider society, bringing Cyprus as an important case study through which foreign malicious actors seek to exploit Cypriot vulnerabilities as a means of achieving political objectives that could in turn damage the European Union. He highlighted that hybrid threats as must be addressed in an effort to raise societal awareness over this phenomenon so as to effectively restore trust in public institutions.
This section was coordinated smoothly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, under the auspices of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. Special thanks to colleagues Orestis Collins and Nikolas Voniatis
